You may have guessed from this title, I don't like mosquitoes. I'm willing to bet, you don't either. I can't remember the last time I heard someone say, "Shhhh. Listen. Do you hear that beautiful buzzing sound?" No one likes mosquitoes, because mosquitoes suck--literally and figuratively. But if you happen to be the one person in the world who is like, "Dude. Mosquitoes aren't like totally bad." Here are my reasons for loathing these blood sucking parasites. Hopefully, you will come to loathe them too.
Nasty itchy mosquito bites: "Those red welts on your neck really compliment your eyes," said no one, ever. Mosquito bites are unsightly. But that isn't enough for the mosquito. They also have to make them itchy. The saliva of a mosquito is as irritating to our natural immune system as the noise they make is irritating to our eardrums. This causes our bodies to produce histamines that cause the area around a bite to itch.
Blood meals: Any creature that must have a blood meal before it can fertilize its eggs, sucks. Whether it's bed bugs eating you at night, ticks engorging themselves on you in the day, or fleas living in your hair, blood-eating bugs are just wrong. I don't care if mosquitoes require the isoleucine that is in my blood in order to survive as a species. Find another way to get it, like how vegetarians get their protein from soy.
Airborne viruses: Mosquitoes are believed to be the deadliest animal on the face of the Earth because they carry viruses that kill, such as malaria, yellow fever and dengue. These are viruses that would not otherwise travel through the air and kill millions, but thanks to the mosquito's ability to fly, these viruses go airborne--so to speak, and spread across a large area. Thanks, mosquitoes.
The good news is that many communities in the United States are starting to do something about mosquitoes. People are realizing that those flu-like symptoms they get sometimes, aren't coming from the flu at all. As more homes and businesses partner with pest control companies to eliminate breeding sites, kill egg sacks before they hatch, and reduce adult mosquito populations in the areas they hide from the heat of the noonday sun, mosquitoes are being excluded.
Join the battle and help reduce mosquitoes in your community. You can make a difference. Call Action Pest Control to learn more about our mosquito abatement program today.
